CLIMATE AND ENERGY: NATIONAL AND EU POLICIES, FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES AND SUPPORT FOR THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES

    Organiser: Others

An EcoEnergy webinar (in Bulgarian), 29 April 2020

Is energy efficiency the logical area of public investments leading the recovery from the economic and social crisis we’re all facing? The answer seems quite obvious, given the potential boost to the local small businesses and employment, immediate but also sustainable long-term economic impact, and health and well-being of citizens. But make no illusions – it all falls down to the initiative and capacity of local authorities, and we rarely know what they need to drive us through the challenging situation ahead.

The traditional spring edition of the conference of the Bulgarian Municipal Energy Efficiency Network EcoEnergy, starting at 9:00 EET on April 29th, 2020, will directly address these topics, making the connection between national and local authorities in light of the new strategic developments at national level and the ongoing preparation of local SECAPs for the period until 2030. The participants will reflect over the impact of the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) 2021-2030 on the municipal strategic planning, presented by Deputy Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov, as well as on the opportunities outlined in the forthcoming National Long-term Renovation Strategy, presented by the head of the Sustainable Energy Development Agency Ivailo Alexiev. EcoEnergy experts will promote good practices from the development of long-term building renovation strategies under the EUKI-supported Our Buildings project, directly applicable to the SECAP elaboration process - especially when supported by the web-based energy management tools just launched by EcoEnergy’s Secretariat EnEffect. And of course, we’re never to miss out on financing: the new tools of the National EcoTrust Fund developed under the MEMS project and the broad portfolio of the Bulgarian Energy Efficiency and Renewable Sources Fund are perfectly compatible to the new opportunities to promote local investment concepts opened by the EU City Facility initiative.

EcoEnergy’s conference is well-known of bringing to local authorities the news that matter - this time there would be no difference, despite the change of the venue! If it matters to you as well, register here: https://forms.gle/sQCJe3NXB3TnGceF7.
